- DVOA- DVOA measures a team’s efficiency by comparing success on every single play to a league average based on situation and opponent.
- Explosive Pass/Run Rate– Percentage of runs that produce 10+ yards and percentage of passes that produce 20+ yards
- Success Rate vs. Coverage scores – How often a receiver gets open against the defenders covering him. A success is charted when a receiver “gets open” against the coverage. Creating separation, enough for the quarterback to have a reasonable target, is marked as a success. The only plays that are automatically given as success to the receiver are instances where a receiver is obviously held or interfered with (called or not). These plays make a big difference to an offense, and signify a receiver winning yards for his team by forcing the defensive back to hold him.
- Adjusted Line Yards (ALY)- Statistic that attempts to, even to a small extent, separate the ability of a running back from the ability of the offensive line. Adjusted Line Yards begin as a measure of average rushing yards per play by running backs only, adjusted in the following way:
- 0-4 yards: 100% strength
- 5-10 yards: 50% strength
- 11+ yards: not included
- runs for a loss: 120% strength
Each play is also adjusted based on game situation as well as quality of opponents faced.
The rest of the data used such as pressure rate, tempo, and coverage grade are fairly self-explanatory.
